Bala Shark

The Bala Shark, or Balantiocheilos melanopterus, is a large, freshwater fish native to Southeast Asia. It’s known for its sleek, torpedo-shaped body, growing up to 14 inches in aquariums and larger in the wild. The fish has a shiny silver body with black margins on its fins, resembling a shark. Despite its name, it’s not a true shark but belongs to the Cyprinidae family. Bala Sharks are peaceful, requiring spacious tanks due to their size and active nature. They are omnivorous, eating a variety of foods, and enjoy schooling in groups, making them a popular choice for large community aquariums.
