Five Cichlid Species For Beginners
Cichlids are charming fish often beloved by owners for their individualistic nature, striking colors, and general intelligence. If you’re looking to dive into the wonderful world of cichlids, below are a few species of cichlids that are good for beginners.
For beginner cichlid owners, it is recommended to start with a 30-gallon tank. Aquariums of this size can house smaller cichlid species comfortably. Tank requirements for African cichlids and South American cichlids are similar to other fish from the same region.
In order to keep these fish happy you should have in your tank:
- A filter to keep your water oxygenated.
- A heater to keep your water at a suitable temperature.
