Description

The Aulonocara sp. Walteri, commonly referred to as the Blue-Face Peacock, exhibits a striking deep blue coloration on its mouth and gill plates, complemented by a navy-blue body. This rare fish features an orange streak that runs from its forehead to the caudal fin along the dorsal fin’s edge, adding a vibrant contrast to its appearance. Its fins are jet-black with distinctive white trim, resembling the frosted tips seen in its close relatives such as the Swallowtail, Otter Point, Eureka, and Lemon Jake Peacock. This distinct combination of dark body color and bright back stripe sets it apart from other cichlids. Found only in select areas of Lake Malawi, the Blue-Face Peacock is both a rarity and a jewel among aquarium enthusiasts.
